Had another crack at the Downs Link cycle route with my family today.
This time we drove to Henfield (where we stopped last time) with the intention of riding south from Henfield towards the coast – or at least as far as Upper Beeding.
Started pouring down with rain and then I got a blasted puncture on my bike after about 3km.
I had no spare tube or repair kit so we all had to turn around and return to the car – conveniently parked in car park near the Cat and Canary pub at Henfield. This time we stopped for lunch.
Usual pub fayre of baguettes for my wife and son, ploughmans for me and chicken dippers for my daughter (everyone likes chicken dippers). Actually all nice and fresh so no complaints.
Two new tubes and a repair kit from Halfords on the way home – £15.
Will try again tomorrow.

Been a real pain trying to source an aftermarket exhaust for my fuel injected Ducati 620 sport.
The bike model was never as popular as its Monster stablemate and it seems this has resulted in a limited supply of custom add-ons.
I had heard tales that the more popular 750ss and 900ss exhaust systems were compatible but after a bit more research it seems this is not true. A shame as there seems to be loads of components for these models both new and used through online auction sites.
What I have found is that the 800ss and 1000ss models ARE compatible with the 620ss – of course fuel injected models only. Not a great help though as these models are just as rare as the 620.
A useful source of information that helped me deduce these facts are the Ducati parts catalogues that are now freely downloadable from HERE
Youl notice that the Duacti part number for the 620 sport Right Hand silencer is 573.1.047.1B and the Left Hand silencer is 574.1.047.1B. These are exactly the same part numbers as for the 1000ss and 800ss.
Also worth noting that the American part numbers differ slightly from European – I can only assume that this is to meet the different emissions regulations in place between the two continents. Probably not safe to assume that EU and US parts are NOT interchangeable (legally).
If anyone has a set of used cans available, feel free to let me know through the blog.
2004 Ducati 620 sport.
Really good condition, only done around 5K dry miles.
You could race it too if you had the metal:

Great day out trying my hand at motocross.
Great fun but really hard work. Muscles really aching the following day.
