You know what, I think I would actually prefer one of these so called ‘knock-offs’.

Original story here

… and possibly for IT types of a certain age.

Now I know it.

It seems they have Duran Duran performing at their annual user conference in Frankfurt.

Well, I’ve had a play with the iPad – its ok (nice screen and pretty responsive) but I won’t be rushing out to buy the first generation.

Didn’t get the level of satisfaction that Stephen Fry got when he just opened the box on his (see here)

Picture of me grinnng like an idiot while fiddling with the iPad.

Now found a great spoof of the Stephen Fry iPad unpacking video on YouTube here

Ordered and paid for an r4i card (for research purposes) from r4i.co.uk ( a web property of memorybits.co.uk) on March 28th.

Still no sign of the darned thing despite a 2-4 working day delivery estimate – I’m distinctly unimpressed with their customer service team who tell me it must have been lost in the post and they will therefore resend the item – then turn around and tell me that they won’t do this until 15 working days have elapsed.

UPDATE
Still no sign of the card and no response from r4i.co.uk – I have now had to escalate to PayPal in order to get a refund. I’d recommend that potential buyers stay clear of this company.

UPDATE 07/04/2010
Finally got my money back from this waste of space company.
Had to do it through PayPal though as memorybits.co.uk a.k.a r4i.co.uk customer service is non-existent.

AVOID THIS COMPANY !
